The 7-speed AMG® SPEEDSHIFT®(R) PLUS transmission offers exclusive calibration. The electronic selector and shift paddles let you control all gear changes with your hands on the steering wheel. The AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT control offers five driving programs for the transmission and other dynamic systems. A Manual mode offers direct sequential gear selection via the shift paddles, with rev-matched downshifts that bring about a brief surge of throttle and a snarl of the exhaust.
The GLE advances the state of SUV style. Shapely headlamps integrate LED Daytime Running Lamps and frame its wide grille. The deep front bumper features large air intakes. A sporty twin-power-dome hood and sculpted front fenders flow into an iconic profile, culminating in wraparound rear styling with concealed roof pillars and LED taillamps. Performance cues dominate the powerful front end. The front air dam features massive air intakes in an A-wing design with Gloss Black and chrome shadow trim. The full-time 4MATIC®(R) all-wheel drive features an AMG®-specific transfer case with a permanent 40:60 front/rear torque split, for improved handling dynamics. It also incorporates our 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS(R)), which monitors for the first sign of wheel slip and responds to ensure torque is sent to the wheels with the best grip, even if that's only one wheel.

The GLE advances the state of SUV style. Shapely headlamps integrate LED Daytime Running Lamps and frame its wide grille. The deep front bumper features large air intakes. A sporty twin-power-dome hood and sculpted front fenders flow into an iconic profile, culminating in wraparound rear styling with concealed roof pillars and LED taillamps. Performance cues dominate the powerful front end. The front air dam features massive air intakes in an A-wing design with Gloss Black and chrome shadow trim. The signature double-crosswing grille sweeps into the full-LED headlamps. Color-keyed flares widen the wheel arches, which can be bridged by brushed aluminum running boards if desired. A black finned lower diffuser frames the four chrome AMG® tailpipes.
The full-time 4MATIC®(R) all-wheel drive features an AMG®-specific transfer case with a permanent 40:60 front/rear torque split, for improved handling dynamics. In any season, on any road, 4MATIC® adds to your confidence and control. It also incorporates our 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4-ETS(R)), which monitors for the first sign of wheel slip and responds to ensure torque is sent to the wheels with the best grip, even if that's only one wheel.
Hand-fitted upholstery, precise topstitching, hand-finished trim and subtle metallic details define a cockpit that's pure in its driving focus yet rich with refinement. AMG®-exclusive instruments flank a vivid color multifunction display in front of the driver, while an 8-inch color screen takes center stage atop the dash. And while the intuitive controls feel close at hand, the cabin is spacious in every dimension and generous with amenities. Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps help get the GLE noticed, for added safety and in modern style. The DRLs and all other front light functions are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making the design as appealing as it is illuminating. Wide, horizontal taillamps feature a fiber-optic design and LED turn signals and brake lamps.
Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as the driver starts to brake, Active Brake Assist can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, the system can also initiate braking automatically at many driving speeds. The first system of its kind, ATTENTION ASSIST®(R) continuously monitors up to 70 parameters of driving behavior and can automatically alert the driver with both visual and audible warnings if it detects signs of drowsiness on long trips. With enhanced sensitivity, the system can also help detect drivers who begin their trip drowsy and offer more useful information to drivers along their journey via a new dashboard display. At most driving speeds, radar technology helps sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. An icon illuminates in the appropriate side mirror to alert the driver of a detected vehicle. The system also gives an audible warning if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected.
