Smooth, quiet and rich in torque, the EQS 450+ is powered by an advanced 245kW electric motor that can send up to 329 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) features permanent magnets to generate AC current with high power density and efficiency. An advanced cooling system helps assure maintain its high-performance consistency during spirited driving and a wide range of climates. Paddles on the steering wheel let you vary the intensity of energy recuperated by deceleration and braking during normal driving. The default D Auto setting can activate the intelligent ECO Assist feature. Three levels of recuperation are also selectable, from none (effectively coasting when you let off the driving pedal) to Normal to Increased, which can allow one-pedal driving. Activated in the ECO mode of DYNAMIC SELECT, ECO Assist intelligently processes data from the vehicle's driving assistance and navigation systems to help you maximize your efficiency and energy recuperation from braking or coasting. Using GPS and map data, topography, traffic and the detection of nearby vehicles via radar and the stereo camera, ECO Assist can optimize energy recovery to the situation and also allow pure one-pedal driving in some conditions. A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Three modes (ECO, Comfort and Sport) alter the drivetrain response, steering effort and AIRMATIC®(R) suspension. A fourth Individual mode allows you to create a mode of your own.
To simplify the outfitting of your EQS, three trims bundle complementary features into three distinctive and generously appointed model lines. The Premium Trim means there's no such thing as a base model EQS, providing such thoughtful luxuries as a Panorama roof, Burmester(R) surround sound, KEYLESS GO®(R) with seamless door handles, 64-color ambient lighting, rear-axle steering and MB Navigation with augmented video. In the future, cars will be able to communicate with each other over the airwaves. The future is here today. With its industry-leading Car-to-X Communication, every new EQS can automatically alert a central notification system of certain dangers, from detected wheelspin to the use of hazard flashers or even windshield wipers. The system can then alert other drivers with Car-to-X via in-dash displays or announcements, allowing precautions to be taken before reaching the hazard. A Mercedes-Benz innovation, radar-based Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC(R) can adapt your cruise control speed to the flow of traffic. If the vehicle ahead slows to a stop, it can brake to a full halt. If traffic moves within 60 seconds, it can proceed automatically. It can even team with the navigation's Electric Intelligence to optimize acceleration and speed for maximum range, or for a desired charge status at your destination. You can also vary system dynamics via MBUX. Active Steering Assist can be engaged whenever you're using DISTRONIC adaptive cruise control. Using cameras and other sensors to detect lane markings, guardrails and other vehicles, Active Steering Assist can help the driver keep the vehicle centered in its lane while cruising, even in gentle curves. When lane markings aren't visible, it can even follow the vehicle ahead. Enhancements can improve lane centering on highways or follow the road edge on non-striped roadways. Radar-based technology can alert you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as you start to brake, it can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, it can also initiate braking automatically at a range of driving speeds. The system can also detect and react to crossing pedestrians at typical city speeds.
Intuitive and artfully sculpted, seat-shaped controls help you and your front passenger find your ideal seating positions with 12-way power adjustment, including cushion length. A memory system for each front seat recalls four stored seat positions with the touch of a button. The driver-seat memory also includes the power steering column and side mirror positions. Standard heating with automatic timed step-down adds soothing, controlled comfort in cool weather. Ventilated seats are a luxury you'll soon consider a necessity. Three levels of heating and cooling ventilation are offered. By gently circulating air through perforations in the seat and backrest, ventilated seats help keep you cooler and your clothes drier during warmer months. Reversible fans help draw heat away for brief periods. On cold or damp days, using both the ventilation and heating together can circulate the seat heating more quickly, to help keep you warm and dry. A 12.3-inch high-resolution color display offers customizable instrumentation. Selectable designs combine analog-style gauges with digital and graphical readouts tailored exclusively for electric driving. Illustrated and animated menus include readouts for vehicle information, feature settings and driver-assistance systems. It's easy to scroll through the menus via the left steering-wheel Touch Control Button. The large, portrait-oriented 12.8-inch central touchscreen employs Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology. Comprising several organic layers under a high-strength glass surface, the OLED display offers numerous benefits to LCD displays. Requiring no external backlighting, the active pixels can appear clearer and crisper, while overall energy consumption is reduced.
