A new, more powerful 255-hp 2.0L inline-4 turbo engine combines numerous advances to deliver more performance from less fuel. Its rapid-multispark ignition and high-pressure Direct Injection can fine-tune themselves every few milliseconds to optimize performance, efficiency and emissions. An intercooled twin-scroll turbocharger and CAMTRONIC variable valve lift help deliver all of the engine's 273 lb-ft of torque from just 1,800 rpm, for vigorous response when taking off, merging or passing. With a greater range of ratios and shorter steps between gears, the 9-speed automatic changes gears more quickly but nearly imperceptibly. Along with a more seamless delivery of power, the lighter, more versatile transmission enhances quiet riding comfort and fuel-efficiency. The electronic selector and shift paddles let you control all gear changes with your hands on the steering wheel. And drivers can vary the shift modes via the innovative DYNAMIC SELECT system. A multimode drive program selector on the console lets you transform the car's character with the flip of a switch. Four modes (ECO, Comfort, Sport and Sport+) alter the throttle response, shift points and steering effort, plus the ECO Start/Stop system. A fifth Individual mode allows you to create a mode of your own, even letting you set the transmission for purely manual shifting. An ECO Start/Stop system automatically shuts off the engine at stoplights and other idle situations, to save fuel and reduce emissions. As soon as the driver lifts off the brake, the engine instantly restarts, for immediate acceleration response. The ECO Start/Stop system can also be shut off by the driver at any time.

Radar-based technology alerts you if you're approaching a vehicle ahead, or even some stationary objects, at a speed and distance that suggest a collision is likely. As soon as the driver starts to brake, the system can automatically provide an appropriate level of braking to help prevent a collision or reduce its severity. If you fail to respond, the system can also initiate braking automatically from speeds up to 65 mph and can activate the features of PRESAFE®(R). With longer life, quicker illumination and beams that approximate daylight even more closely than xenon headlamps, the multi-element LED headlamps enhance both vision and visibility in nighttime driving. Bright white LED Daytime Running Lamps and all other front light functions are integrated within the flowing sculpture of the headlamp assemblies, making the design as appealing as it is illuminating. Wide, horizontal taillamps feature an all-LED design with a three-dimensional design. When traveling above approximately 20 mph, radar technology can help sense when a vehicle enters the blind-spot area. Blind Spot Assist can then alert the driver via an illuminated red icon in the appropriate side mirror. An audible warning sounds if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. After parking, new enhancements can also alert the driver or passengers to vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians that could be at risk if the door is opened.

Apple CarPlay? brings its own interface and apps to your Mercedes-Benz. Integrating with your car's in-dash color screen, central controller and steering-wheel controls, Apple CarPlay lets you enjoy a variety of apps via an interface that looks and works like your iPhone(R). That's because it links your iPhone and Siri(R) to your car, so you can make calls, hear or dictate text messages, navigate to a destination, stream music, podcasts and audiobooks from a variety of sources and more. A widescreen color display with multitouch interface makes it easy to access a world of features, including audio, MB Navigation, phone and vehicle settings. In addition to the three input methods of the standard screen (touchscreen, console touchpad and Touch Control steering wheel), it also responds to the advanced voice control you activate by saying Hey, Mercedes. Predictive features can learn and anticipate your commands, while you can save groups of settings as themes and moods. A new concept in automobile cockpit control, the Mercedes-Benz User Experience advances to the forefront of innovation. MBUX integrates digital in-dash displays including a touchscreen, touch-sensitive controls, Bluetooth®(R) hands-free and audio streaming and an available industry-advancing voice control system that responds to your everyday speaking voice and phrasing of commands. You can set up multiple user profiles of favored settings and groups of settings can be saved as themes or moods.
